Adventure Time designer/board artist Michael DeForge’s Very Casual getting some love from The New York Times Sunday Book Review. It deserves it, too. koyamapress: Michael DeForge’s collection of comics culled from anthologies, limited run mini-comics and award-winning one-offs, Very Casual (9780987963079 | May 2013 | $15.00 | Trade Paper) has been reviewed by Douglas Wolk in the  The New York Times Sunday Book Review. “[Very Casual] collects perverse, funny, haunting stories by the Canadian cartoonist Michael DeForge, whose pet subject is the overwhelming creepiness of bodies. Everything and everyone in his drawings is dripping, bubbling and developing unsightly growths. He warps and dents the assured, geometrical forms of vintage newspaper strips and new wave-era graphics into oddly adorable horrors; his stories are prone to whiplash formal shifts.” — Douglas Wolk, The New York Times Read the whole review here!

A pretty cool title card rough from Michael DeForge via Tom Hunter via Michael DeForge. mrbuffalo: kingtrash: thought this would be interesting to post? my rough “Little Dude” title card sketch, which I drew to be sent off to get the full painted title card treatment. Opening my Inbox to see the final colored version really blew my mind. Deforge is just the best. This is my favourite title card from AT I’ve seen so far, and from an episode I had background layouts in!

Boarded by Kent and Somvilay, “Vault of Bones” premieres tonight (and brings back Flame Princess). Thanks to Michael DeForge for the promo art. kingtrash: Adam Muto suggested I draw up a quick promo for this Monday’s Adventure Time episode, “Vault of Bones.” It’s pretty bonkers. I did a little bit of work on the board for this one, too.

"Little Dude" Premieres Tonight It’s Michael DeForge’s first Adventure Time board work. Miss it and you’ll regret it forever. kingtrash: A new episode of Adventure Time airs on Monday called “Little Dude.” I storyboarded it with Cole Sanchez! I’m normally on the design team, so this was my first time storyboarding anything. Cole and Adam Muto basically held my hand through the whole process, and were both incredibly patient with me. It was a fun one to work on, and based on a concept Andy Ristaino came up with.
