It’s another very strong issue by Natasha Allegri. “Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake” #3 has some hilarious jokes that alone make the issue worth picking up. My favorites are some digs at the masculine vanity of Prince Gumball and Marshall Lee, a joke about vampirism and the mostly visual punchline of Fionna’s wish being granted.
Hats off to Natasha for another job well done. We can’t wait for #4.

Meet Natasha Allegri at the Emerald City Comicon
“Bee and PuppyCat” creator Natasha Allegri (oh, yeah, she’s also the woman behind Adventure Time’s Fionna & Cake) is hanging out in Seattle this weekend as part of the BOOM! Studios contingent of A1 artists at the Emerald City Comicon. Natasha will be signing her Fionna & Cake comics today (Friday) at 3:00 p.m., tomorrow at noon, and Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
When you’re there, pick up the comic with Colleen Coover’s exclusive ECCC cover (above).
Secret: there may just be a few PuppyCat buttons on hand, too.
‘Adventure Time Annual’ #1 Coming in May with Stories by Langridge, Fridolfs, Nguyen and More
Adventure Time Annual #1, from BOOM! Studios, is set for a May release, and it’s going to the best thing, ever. Caleb Goellner has the details over at Comics Alliance. And a big thumbs up to Natasha Allegri for the above cover.

Fionna & Cake Comics a Hit
Aw, man. Adventure Time with Fionna & Cake by Natasha Allegri and from BOOM! Studios is just too, too good. The fresh, first issue is a smash and No. 2 is right around the corner. Natasha wrote and drew the comic’s guts with Noelle Stevenson’s handling back-up story. Of course, BOOM! corralled a bevy of wonderful cover artists for the various variants, including Stephanie Gonzaga’s, above. tomorrow (i think!) the fionna and cake boom comic will be at some comic stores. i really hope you take a look at it and like it. and if you don’t like it, i’m really sorry i messed up. but i’m really excited for you to see britt wilson’s beautiful lettering, if anything!

Allegri Gender Swaps “Adventure Time with Fionna & Cake”
Okay, so while Natasha’s busy working on her “Bee and PuppyCat” cartoons for Cartoon Hangover along with her day job over on Adventure Time, she’s also been up to her ears writing and drawing half a dozen Fionna and Cake comics for our pals at BOOM! As an extra kick, Nat’s sat down with Ryan Ingram for Comic Book Resources to talk about the comics - the very ones which will be in your mitts next month.
The artist, who has been hooked on comics since she first read “Garfield” in elementary school, also cites “Sailor Moon,” Rumiko Takahashi’s “Rumic Theater” and “Mermaid Saga” as big influences. “Comics are my first love. I wanted to do comics initially when I was in school and then I strayed into animation somehow,” Allegri explained, adding that she appreciates the change of pace involved in breaking down stories into sequential form instead of being forced to “show everything” like in animation.
