Fionna & Cake #5
Fionna & Cake #5 (Web Exclusive Cover)
As production on Natasha’s first Cartoon Hangover short winds down, so does her six-issue Fionna & Cake comic book series (she’s been writing and illustrating them all; who gave her 32-hour days is what we’d like to know).
Anyhoo, you may have already snagged Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake #5, but did you see this Marshall Lee cover, available only through the BOOM! Studios’ website? Order now.
Magic MAAAAAN!!!
Original art of the first 5 pages of Adventure Time #15 are up on ebay!
Issue 15 marks the first time we (series artists Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb) have done traditional art for the interior of the comic. All the art we’ve done for previous issues has been entirely digital. What does this mean? Just that this is the first time original art has been available from our work on the feature storyline! Pretty flippin’ rare and wonderful, eh?
Hi guys! This is a really special opportunity to own a piece of the ADVENTURE TIME comic history! Check out the auctions above!
Adventure Time #13 and the Love It Creates
There’s a lotta love going around for the latest issue of BOOM!’s Adventure Time comic.
From the brains and hands of Ryan North, Shelly Paroline, and Braden Lamb comes an issue so mesmerizing, Chris Sims from Comics Alliance raves, “But seriously, you guys? This week’s issue is so great. So great, in fact, that it might just be my favorite of the series so far.”
And Comic Book Resources’ Kelly Thompson sez, “It’s also incredibly refreshing to see some great comics for kids that are also so effortlessly enjoyable for adults. “Adventure Time” gets it right.”
Nerdlocker reviews the issue, too, but in video form.
Geez, though. Don’t you want to buy your own copy for J.J. Harrison’s alternate cover, above?
Tomorrow’s the big release date for BOOM!’s Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake #1, written and illustrated by Natasha Allegri. Go here for Comic Book Resources’ preview.
Congratulations, Natasha.

Allegri Gender Swaps “Adventure Time with Fionna & Cake”
Okay, so while Natasha’s busy working on her “Bee and PuppyCat” cartoons for Cartoon Hangover along with her day job over on Adventure Time, she’s also been up to her ears writing and drawing half a dozen Fionna and Cake comics for our pals at BOOM! As an extra kick, Nat’s sat down with Ryan Ingram for Comic Book Resources to talk about the comics - the very ones which will be in your mitts next month.
The artist, who has been hooked on comics since she first read “Garfield” in elementary school, also cites “Sailor Moon,” Rumiko Takahashi’s “Rumic Theater” and “Mermaid Saga” as big influences. “Comics are my first love. I wanted to do comics initially when I was in school and then I strayed into animation somehow,” Allegri explained, adding that she appreciates the change of pace involved in breaking down stories into sequential form instead of being forced to “show everything” like in animation.
And while you’re encouraged to patronize your local comics shop in January, there’s also a pre-order for Fionna and Cake comics at BOOM!
